COVID-19 and Farming

Author/3/25/2020

Dear Bleyhl Customer,

Governor Inslee has issued a “Stay at Home” order for all non-essential personnel in Washington state. COVID-19 is something that we need to take seriously, and we will do everything in our power to reduce the possibility of the virus infiltrating our employees, members, and customers.

As an essential retailer, we will continue to stay open. Our purpose remains the same - to preserve a way of life for our members and communities. We are monitoring the evolving situation closely, and following the guidance of the CDC (Center for Disease Control) and local health officials to inform any changes in our day-day operations.

We realize minimizing contact can help prevent the spread of illness, and will continue to think of ways to get you the product you need, in the safest ways possible. While this is not an exhaustive list, here are some of the precautions we are taking across our business.

AGRONOMY

  1. Customers are encouraged to call or email in their orders ahead of time to limit time spent in the lobby.
  2. We will keep our lobby open, and customers will be allowed in, but they must keep 6 feet between themselves and the counter. If the 6-foot rule cannot be maintained, we may need to limit the number of people inside at one time.
  3. We will continue to make deliveries but will follow social distancing rules when unloading.
  4. Until further notice, no meetings or gatherings of 10 or more people will take place. Social distancing rules will be in effect for meetings with fewer attendees.
  5. All employees will be required to wash their hands frequently and thoroughly and sanitize hands when entering and exiting the office.

ENERGY

  1. We will no longer leave a physical copy of an invoice at a customer location.
    1. We will gladly email copies of meter tickets and invoices to customers if provided an email address.
  2. “No contact” with the customer will take place with tank sets and service appointments.
    1. Leak checks and pressure tests will only take place on the building exterior. When a leak check is complete on the outside of the house, the technician or driver will remain outside the house and wait for the customer to light pilots, verbally communicating with the customer that the pilot lights are on.
    2. Any required signatures will be gathered via email or via verbal confirmation over the phone to complete the necessary paperwork.
  3. All employees will be required to wash their hands frequently and thoroughly and sanitize hands when entering and exiting the office.
  4. We will sanitize station pump handles and keypads several times per day.
  5. Our exterior doors will remain locked to the public. We will make every effort to provide curbside service to customers that need help at our facility.

ORCHARD & VINEYARD

  1. Customers are encouraged to call or email in their orders.
  2. We will continue to make deliveries but will follow social distancing rules when unloading.
  3. Until further notice, no meetings or gatherings of 10 or more people will take place. Social distancing rules will be in effect for meetings with fewer attendees.
  4. All employees will be required to wash their hands frequently and thoroughly and sanitize hands when entering and exiting the office.

RETAIL LOCATIONS

  1. Customers are encouraged to call their local store ahead of time and place an order for curbside pickup.
  2. All employees will be required to wash their hands frequently and thoroughly and sanitize hands when entering and exiting the facility.
  3. Frequently touched surfaces are being wiped down and sanitized regularly.
  4. We have implemented a no return policy on over-purchased pet food, feed, and bedding products.
  5. We will be monitoring and enforcing “social distancing” with 6 feet of spacing between customers and counters.
  6. Until further notice, in-store events and workshops have been canceled. Live workshops/webinars have replaced upcoming events for the time being.

We thank you in advance for your help and effort in this most unusual time. These next few months will not be easy, but our efforts could mean the difference in saving lives and that itself is worth the fight.
